A FAMILY HISTORY OF SERVICE

1860 - A Foundation is Laid

Our story begins when James Mooney opens an insurance agency in the growing city of Buffalo, NY, laying the groundwork for a legacy of client service.

1923 - The Walsh Name Arrives

John N. Walsh, the son-in-law of James Mooney, joins the firm, bringing with him a name that would become synonymous with integrity and insurance expertise in Western New York.

Post-War Growth - A Family Affair

John's sons, John Jr. and Edward, join the agency, expanding our services and cementing our status as a true family-owned and operated business.

1970s - The Fourth Generation Takes the Helm

Starting in the 1970s, the fourth generation—Ted, Jack, Michael, and Barney Walsh—joined the agency, officially assuming active leadership in 1989 to guide the firm's next era of growth.

2019 - Fifth Generation Steps Up

The fifth generation stepped into leadership in 2019 as Sean Keenan (Ted’s son-in-law) became President and COO, with Blake Walsh and Demi Walsh being active contributors to company culture and community impact as members of the sales team

Today - Five Generations Strong

Walsh Duffield becomes Walsh Insurance as we open our beautiful, brand new headquarters in downtown Buffalo. Now with over 100 dedicated associates in Buffalo, Rochester, and Medina, we continue to evolve while honoring our founding promise.
